13 Mar Fort Collins Museum of Art Mask Project
The B Sharp Arts Engagement is expanding into the visual arts in Northern Colorado The Fort Collins Museum of Art has eagerly offered to work with the B Sharp Arts Engagement team to provide a visual and hands-on experience that will provide mental stimulation and a meaningful shared experience with the care partner and the person living with dementia. This experience will include 4-5 couples who will participate in 4 weekly sessions as they prepare their own memory masks to be a part of the Mask display at the Museum April 7-May 5. These couples, like those in the B Sharp program with the Fort Collins Symphony, will participate in assessments which examine mood and cognition before and after visual arts engagement. The pilot project is possible due to the collaborative support of Kaiser Permanente, Banner Health, Home Instead, CSU, Alzheimer’s Association, Larimer County Office on Aging, Dementia-Friendly Communities of Northern Colorado, and the Fort Collins Museum of Art. Pictured here planning to program are: Sarah Harlow (Home Instead), Lisa Hatchadoorian (FCMA), Dawn Paepke (Kaiser Permanente), Beth Gherardi (FCMA), and Laura Malinin (CSU).
